Description

We are now looking for someone who wants to help develop, strengthen, and communicate the university's work in climate, health, and sustainability – while coordinating the university's research network for interdisciplinary transformation research.

In this role, you will work closely with the university's environmental and sustainability strategist and researchers within the interdisciplinary network Umeå Transformation Research Initiative (UTRI).

The position is located at the Local Supply Unit, one of the eleven units within the administration. Here, 27 employees work with university-wide infrastructure and design, housing issues, and central coordination of physical work environment, environment, and safety. The unit is responsible for the university's overall environmental and sustainability work, the development of a healthy campus, and the coordination of UTRI.

We are looking for an engaged person who wants to contribute to Umeå University's work on sustainable development and health-promoting initiatives and who wants to drive change in a time when sustainability issues are more important than ever.

Responsibilities

The role includes two main assignments:

Coordination and Communication within UTRI (Umeå Transformation Research Initiative)

  • Promote and coordinate the university's interdisciplinary transformation research.
  • Support the UTRI network by organizing meetings, workshops, symposia, and international panel discussions.
  • Be responsible for UTRI's communication via the website and newsletters.
  • Work closely with UTRI's steering group, young UTRI, and researchers from all faculties.

Coordination and Communication in the Healthy Campus Project

  • Promote, coordinate, and communicate the university's work for a healthy campus.
  • Collaborate with the reference group for a healthy campus and other relevant stakeholders to implement activities and initiatives.
  • Administer and report the Healthy Campus project to the main organization FISU.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree or other post-secondary education focused on communication, sustainable development, or equivalent. You should have good experience in coordinating, communicating, and developing projects. We are looking for someone who is service-oriented in both internal and external contacts and has good initiative and organizational skills. Furthermore, we see that you are strategic with a flexible approach where you find it stimulating to work in an environment with varied tasks. The work also requires that you are open and function well in work performed independently as well as in a group. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious:

  • Experience working within a university and/or higher education institution.
  • Experience leading, coordinating, and communicating projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the university's operations.
  • Knowledge of the university's web publishing system, Episerver.

Conditions

The position is a temporary appointment with a workload of 100 percent, from 2026-03-01 to 2026-12-31.
